The heart of the MSU World Class Teaching Program is the candidate support system for active candidates.
Candidate support groups are organized by certificate area and school/district cohorts.
School or District Cohorts: Candidates within the same school or district may form a cohort for on-site support of component preparation and portfolio development. A trained component coach will come to your school site or district office for the component specific sessions and virtual support for each component. The sessions will explore the core propositions, certificate area standards, component requirements, component scoring rubrics, and successful writing strategies. After the on-site training and preparation by the component coach, each candidate will be paired with a certificate-area, NBCT support provider to answer questions and provide feedback to each candidate's component portfolios.
School or District Professional Development: Professional development on differentiation, assessment, and classroom environment are also available to school sites and districts.
Individual Cohorts: Candidates that wish to pursue national boards will first attend component preparation and portfolio development sessions in-person or virtually. In-person will be held on the MSU Starkville and Meridian campuses in the summer, fall and spring. The sessions will explore the core propositions, certificate area standards, component requirements, component scoring rubrics, and successful writing strategies. After the sessions with the component coach, each candidate will be paired with a certificate-area, NBCT support provider to answer questions and provide feedback to each candidate's component portfolios.
Maintenance of Certification: The MSU World Class teaching program offers preparation sessions and candidate support to National Board Certified Teachers completing their Maintenance of Certification.
Advanced Candidates: The MSU World Class teaching program offers re-submission planning and candidate support for advance candidates.
